Eric Lindquist HST 1122 March 8, 2001 Essay #4 Communist Manifesto and the Final Solution Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto focuses on socialism and the struggles between the classes. Although the Communist Manifesto did not gain a lot of attention when it was first published in 1848 for the Communist League, it later became one of the most widely read documents in the world for over a century. Marx was a critic of Capitalism and an advocate for Socialism. Meanwhile, George Mosse's "Toward the Final Solution" focuses on racism and it's effects that it had on Europe, particularly in Germany where over 6 million European Jews were killed because they were Jewish. Karl Marx could not have predicted how well he anticipated the Nationalism and the Imperialism in the second half of the 19th Century, which is pointed out in the Final Solution.
