Question 1 The issue of whether France would be able to mount a successful challenge to these measures depends on what Articles of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994 (GATT). As the US is party to this Agreement, the American state is thus covered by these schedules. Firstly, the Articles under GATT 1994 that could be contested are Articles I, III.4, XI and XX (b).
