International Institutions Council of the EU Introduction The Security Council is one of the main bodies of the United Nations and was set up in 1945. The council has 15 members with five being permanent and the rest not permanent. The non-permanent members sit on the Security Council for 2 years whilst the five permanent members are from the USA, China, France, Russia, and the UK. Other members are chose from different parts of the world to help provide a balanced society. What is the EU? The EU is a family of nations, which agreed to cooperate for their own benefit and a long-term benefit for the rest of the world.
