Data Analysis Coursework Experiment 1 - Freefall experiment Aim: Find the value of g-force (g) by free fall By having a ball bearing attached to an electro magnet, record the time it takes for the ball bearing to reach a pad. Record the time it takes to fall from different distances and workout the G value. Method: Determination of the acceleration due to gravity (g) by free fall in this experiment: We will determine the acceleration of gravity g by measuring the time of fight for a ball bearing dropped from a various recorded height. The falling body in this experiment will be a metal ball bearing, which falls freely from the catch of an electro magnet at the top of the apparatus to the pad below it.
