Accident and emergency guidelines for an offsite kayak/canoe river trip The following guide is intended to lay out the procedure with dealing with certain safety situation that rises when going on an offsite river trip. A copy of these guidelines should travel with the team at all times, and two team members should be appointed safety officers to ensure their implementation. Mandatory Safety Personnel 1. The team shall appoint two Safety Officers to handle matters related to risk management and safety. Those duties specifically will include, but are not limited to: • Obtaining and maintaining certification in First Aid and CPR • Obtaining training in handling blood-borne pathogens. • Obtaining and/or maintaining a First Aid kit. • Ensuring proper First Aid supplies are available at all team functions. • Ensuring all appropriate documentation is present at all team functions. • Ensuring all activities contain First Aid and CPR certified persons...
