Contemporary Studies Explored
Contemporary Studies: What Is This?
The units of the AS Level or A Level in Physical Education that deal with Contemporary Studies look at contemporary issues within sport. These include the way physiology and psychology can improve sporting performance, and the use of technology and modern techniques in the sporting environment.
Why Study Contemporary Studies?
Modern-day sports are ultra-competitive and split-second margins can mean the difference between glory and dejection (not to mention the financial differences between the two these days!). If you're interested in pursuing a sporting career, you'll need to know how to give yourself the best sporting chance.
Contemporary Studies: What Will I Study?
You'll write coursework and essays assessing the effectiveness of different dietary plans, supplementary programmes and technologies as applied to sporting performance. Through projects and assignments, you'll also analyse the social, ethical, economic and legal aspects of modern sporting approaches.
Further Study After Contemporary Studies
Your Contemporary Studies of Physical Education would provide a sound basis for Degree-level study of Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Marketing and Sports Management.
