I will do this with diagrams and descriptions of each type of muscle found the human body. The Muscular System Muscles make up the bulk of the body and account for about one- third of its weight The Functions of the Muscular System Muscular contraction: * Enables the body to move * Provides the force that pushes the substances, such as blood and food through the body. Without the muscular system none of the other organ systems would be able to work. * Allows development of strength, endurance and speed (Reference of picture www.drstandley.com/bodysystems_muscular.shtml) The Muscular System is composed of muscle tissue (muscle fiber) that is highly specialized to contract or shorten to produce movement when stimulated. Muscle tissue is found everywhere within the body, surrounding many organs and blood
