DISCUSS COMMERCIAL RADIO OWNERSHIP IN THE UK, PARTICULARLY CONCENTRATING ON THE OTHER INTERESTS THE COMPANIES HOLD In this essay I will be discussing the ins and outs of commercial radio ownership including three of the most prominent media groups who own a large amount of the nation's commercial radio stations. The first ever broadcast on Radio in the UK was in 1922 by the BBC using equipment called 2LO, in London, it was in November of that year that the BBC started daily broadcasting using the 2LO equipment, the first ever voice heard on radio was Arthur Burrows, reading a news report. Shortly afterwards stations were set up in Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast.
