Have a little read: ... Analysis of Jaws In this essay I will be analysing how Steven Spielberg creates tension and suspense and scares the audiences in the film Jaws. It is a horror film set in the 1970s in a small island town off the coast of America. It is directed by Spielberg and is based on the novel by Peter Benchley. Most of the action takes place around Independence Day, when hundreds of people flock to the island hoping to enjoy their holidays on the reputable beaches of Amity Island. Instead, the day quickly turns to disaster when the Great White shark claims its second and third victims. At the very beginning of the film, the theme music begins very slowly, grabbing the viewer's attention.
