Music Explored
Music Defined
The Music part of your AS Level or A Level in Media Studies will test your skills in planning and producing music for a radio or TV show. You'll also study a contemporary record label of your choice (British audience), analysing its production, distribution and audience among other aspects.
Music: Why Study This?
If you'e thinking about going into the music or entertainment industries (perhaps making music for radio, TV, film or public performance) you'll find lots in the Music part of the Media Studies A Level that will entertain and inform you.
Music: What Will I Study?
You may get to produce an original piece of music to introduce and accompany a radio or TV show. You'd need to think about the target audience for your music and how it adds to existing radio music available. You also may be asked to write an essay or other coursework on music institutions and audiences.
Further Study After Music
The projects and assignments you complete during the Music part of your Media Studies A Level would be a great basis for studying Music or Music Production at university or music school. It could also count towards Degree-level study in subjects including Media Studies, Radio Production or Journalism.
