Database Design: A Report to Show the Rationale behind the Structure of a Conference Database. Aim "To design a database of information suitable for administrating an Annual Conference held at the Department of Information Science." Introduction A database is constructed for two main purposes. Firstly, to add, delete, and update the data in a database. Secondly, to provide various ways to view (on screen or in print) the data in the database (Roman 1999 p.3). These underlying principals are the backbone to the Conference Database Design and Structure. With these considerations in mind, this rationale explains two fundamental questions. Firstly, why does the Conference Database incorporate this specific design structure? Secondly, how are these structures proposed to be used?
