His older brother shared his radical, revolutionary beliefs, and due to this was hanged in 1887 for plotting against the Tsar. This only spurred Lenin to bring about their political aims. Lenin was thrown out of his first university, Kazan, for his strong political beliefs, he later graduated from St. Petersburg University. Lenin joined the growing Marxist circle, and in 1895, he helped create the 'St Petersburg Union for the Struggle and Emancipation (vote) of the Working Class'. Police soon broke up and arrested the leaders of this union. One of the largest Okhrana (secret police) files was about Lenin. After 15 months in jail with Nadezhola Krupskaya - his fellow union member and wife-to-be, Lenin went into Siberian Exile until 1900. When Lenin came out of his first period in exile
