In 1917 many things happened regarding the war: some were good for the allies and some were bad for them. In my essay I am going to discuss the events of 1917, then decide which one was the most decisive in helping to bring about the end of the war. Among the allies 2 important changes came about in 1917: the USA finally declared war on Germany, and the Russians made peace with Germany. The USA declared war on Germany for two main reasons. For 2 years German U-boats were sinking American ships (by unrestricted submarine warfare).
