Discursive Essay: Smoking Amongst Young People. Why does it happen? Children start smoking at a young age. They know that smoking can kill. Yet they still do it. Of course the teenagers would have their own reasons to start smoking. Smoking gives teenagers something to do with their hands, helping them to feel less awkward. But the wish of becoming more "adult" is probably the main reason why teenagers start smoking. Smoking is one of the main factors which cause heart attacks. The other two are raised blood pressure and raised cholesterol levels in the blood. If people in the United Kingdom did not smoke cigarettes, about 10,000 fewer men and women of working age would die from heart attacks each year. At a younger age smoking your more likly to catch a disease at such a young age, also the parents should know that the kids are smoking...
