Low Birth Weight Babies Low birth weight babies are becoming a major issue in the United States today for a series of reasons. Many women who are pregnant are becoming less protective of their unborn fetus, consequently harming the baby. In fact there are numerous health problems that come with being a low weight infant. Women who are pregnant, or are planning to be, should learn and follow the necessary safety procedures in order to reduce the chances of having an underweight baby. Under eating or any type of malnutrition can deprive the baby in numerous means and could result in low birth weight. In fact, when women become pregnant they are expected to gain a substantial weight in order for their baby to have the proper nutrition's it needs to be healthy. Women who smoke during pregnancy greatly increase their risk of having a low birth rate baby. The...
