'Salicin' which is an active ingredient is found within the willow bark was first isolated in 1829 by Leroux. Experimental work and further research led to the discovery of 'ASPIRIN' by a German chemist Dr Felix Hoffman. A pharmaceutical company called 'Bayer' around 1899 introduced it into the marketplace. Aspirin is effective as a pain relief and fever reduction. It prevents the aggregation of platelets, it can even prevent stroke. Aspirin is preferred drug for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and it is not recommended to children with viral infections such as chicken pox. Nowadays Aspirin is readily made by the acetylating 'salicylic acid'...
