Task Three Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 An Act to make further provision for securing the health, safety and welfare of persons at work, for protecting others against risks to health or safety in connection with the activities of persons at work, for controlling the keeping and use and preventing the unlawful acquisition, possession and use of dangerous substances, and for controlling certain emissions into the atmosphere; to make further provision with respect to the employment medical advisory service. The main objectives of this Act are: * Protect the health, safety and welfare of people at work. * Eliminate risks to health and safety at their source. * Protect the public against risks to health and safety caused by people at work It is important to abide by this law because we need to protect people's health and safety by ensuring risks in the changing workplace are properly controlled.
