General Studies Coursework A lot of money is spent on medical research. Approximately £44.065billion was spent on the health service in 2000-2001 of which £47.958billion was spent on the NHS. There were plans made to increase this expenditure limit to approximately £56,909billion in 2003-2004 in the United Kingdom. Despite this high level of expenditure there are still many illnesses and mortalities from disease like cancer, heart disease AIDS and other illnesses. In 1998 approximately 285,384 people in the United States died of cancer each year, this obviously indicates that not enough money is being spent on Health and research facilities globally The condition of the health service affects many people in different ways. Different "sides" of the argument in view the ways that things are run in terms of health care different.
