... Aim 4 Question: Is longshore drift taking place on the day of our visit? Aim: To test if longshore drift is taking place along Deal beach on the day of our visit and if so, in what direction is it taking place. Theory: The waves move material up/down/along the beach; this is closely related to aim 2 where we measured the berms and ridges on the beach. Longshore drift moves material up and down the beach so we can find if the waves are particularly strong on the day we visited. Method: Firstly we measured wind speed at six different locations using an anemometer; the locations were at the start of site 1 profile survey, end of site 1 profile survey, Deal pier, longshore drift site, groyne box site and just before leaving Deal beach. An anemometer which is sued to measure wind speed, air temperature and wind chill After measuring wind speed, we measured wind direction
