Physical Geography: A Definition

The Physical Geography part of the Geography A Level at AS Level and A Level is about the study of human and physical geography, landscapes, the science of geography and the interaction of humans and their environment.

Why Study Physical Geography?

We need to understand our physical environment because our continued existence depends upon managing the natural resources that provide our means of living. And for sustainability reasons, we have to appreciate how our modern-day practices impact on the natural environment.

Physical Geography: What Will I Study?

Your studies will include writing essays and coursework on marine and wave patterns, and the ecosystems that are under threat. Your projects and assignments will also look at issues such as weather processes, tectonic movement, rainfall and landforms.

Further Study After Physical Geography

Your study of Physical Geography, and the assignments, essays and coursework you complete, will equip you with the knowledge to progress to Degree-level study of Geography. The knowledge you gain will also prepare you for taking other Degrees including Geology, Archaeology or Environmental Science.
