... Village Study : Kempsey Kempsey as a Village. Kempsey, the biggest village in Worcestershire, is located approximately three miles South of Worcester on the A38 and around one to two miles from Junction 7 of the M5 motorway. It is also close to the M50 motorway which links the M5 to South Wales. Railway links can also be found in nearby Worcester, to where there is a frequent bus service, approximately one every hour. The village itself dates back to around and has many references in records for many reasons, among them references to Kempseys' church, St Mary's. The church dates back to the 15th Century and although it suffered heavily through history it is still standing today, to the West of the village, close to the banks of the River Severn, which meanders to the edge of the village, before continuing onto Upton-Upon-Severn.
