The country I have studied is the UK, and I am going to explain the distribution on a national scale. Population distribution describes the way that people are located in an area. It can be shown on a dot map, a settlement map, or a population density map by region, shown in FIGURE 1 and can be calculated with the equation population รท area = population density Where a settlement is placed can be affected by many variables, such as human and physical factors, urban and rural push and pull factors, and government policies. Each factor has a different weighting, and this weighting may have been very different historically.
