... How does the beginning of 'Of mice and men' differ from chapters one and two of the novel? Why do u think these changes have been made? How successful do you think the start of the film is? During this essay we will be looking at the novel of "mice and men" written by John Steinebeck, and comparing it to the film directed by Gary Sinse, who stars in it himself alongside John Malcolvich. This film was created in 1992. The novel was derived from an idea taken from the poem "to a mouse" written by Robert Burns. In the novel chapter one takes place on a riverside beach where Lennie and George arrive on their way to the ranch, just up the road, where they will work the next day. The two men decide to stay the night on this spot, and will go to the ranch in the morning. Chapter two
