Heather Grabin English 12 (1) October.17.2005 "The Sniper" is a short story that is a prime example of how war can tear a person apart mentally, physically, and emotionally in a matter of seconds. A sniper is perched on a rooftop, armed and ready to kill. The sniper has been on the roof since dawn. He takes a chance lighting a cigarette for a quick fix, but the glow from his cigarette signals an enemy soldier to his company. A bullet soars toward the sniper on the rooftop and rickshaws off the side on the building. He quickly puts his cigarette out and switches place. Escaping death is a very dramatic experience and will stay with a person till death. After escaping death, you experience a feeling like no other, a mix between adrenaline and being in a state of shock. That experience will stick with you for the...
