... WAS THE PUBLIC MISLEAD ABOUT THE CONDITIONS IN THE TRENCHES? The sources I think were published before 1916 are souces A and B. This is because they are both recruitement posters , to persuade men to go and sign up.After 1916 conscription was introduced , so there was no need to have these posters because they couldnt volunteer. Source C is made for after 1917 because it says in the provenance that it was a poster by the USA Government, the USA joined the war in 1917 so it would have been after 1917. All of these posters are forms of recruitement.They used guilt like in Source B to make the fathers feel guilty about not signing up.Sources A and B are similar because they use the family, and have a subtle way of making people go to sign up.
