Introduction Tennyson and Owen both wrote poems about war but they both used different context to create a very different view of war, which contrasted with both of their ideas of war. Tennyson and Owen both came from different time eras, which made their views very different. Tennyson wrote of the glory and the honour that the soldiers had gained by getting slaughtered for their country through listening to misleading commands and Owen writes an ironic poem about the gruel and suffering that these soldiers had to face on a day to day basis. Tennyson's fairytale view of war was translated into a poem after reading an article on the soldiers and the honour they claimed by fighting for king and country, whereas Owen wrote his in the first person, Owen actually witnessed how grim and unfitting war actually is.
