Some Poems about War are patriotic, some sad and others angry. Choose two or three poems you enjoyed studying and which are different in some ways and write an essay explaining reasons for your choice. War poems are most probably expected to be sad and depressing but it also depends on the poet as well. Some poets like to be very positive about war like Rupert Brooke and others tend to be quite negative like Wilfred Owen. Owen divides his poem 'Dulce et Decorum est' into three stanzas; the first describes the sufferings and disgust of war, the second describes the death of an anonymous soldier due to poisonous gas and the third he talks to the readers and advises them about 'the old lie' - Dulce et Decorum est Pro Patria Mori.
