In this essay I intend to look at the attitudes women had in the war effort and how they were affected by the events of warfare. I will compare three texts from the anthology: Socks (Text 25), A Nurse's Story (Text 3) and War Wives (Text 15).

Discuss the different attitudes shown to war by women in the following poems; War Wives (Text 15) and 2 other poems of your choice In this essay I intend to look at the attitudes women had in the war effort and how they were affected by the events of warfare. I will compare three texts from the anthology: Socks (Text 25), A Nurse's Story (Text 3) and War Wives (Text 15). From reading 'War Wives' the first impressions are of the aspects of family values and how women were strongly bonded to their children. This is a theme that is carried through out the two extracts. The incorporation of children within the texts brings a sense of sympathy for women involved in the conflicts.
