How does The Chosen demonstrate that suffering, while in itself evil, can bring about much good? Although suffering itself is a very evil and hard to endure, it can bring about much good. Sometime in our lives we will face suffering, whether it's physical or mental. It is a common fact that no one wants to suffer and if someone were to go through something, it would certainly not be suffering. In The Chosen, Potok has been able to show that a terrible thing such as suffering can bring much good. Throughout the novel suffering occurs almost everywhere and Potok. Most characters endure some sort of suffering, which at times you may feel sympathy for them, but if you didn't realise, much good and well being is brought to them as a result of the suffering which they go through.
