How do Wilfred owen's 'dulce et decorum est' and Wilhelm klemm's 'clearing station' show the true horrors of war? What are the similarities and differences between both poems? World war one was started June 28th 1914 both the poems were written in 1917. One is written by an English man towards Jesse pope against his propaganda poems the other is written by a German who is horrified by the propaganda poems that people are writing. In 'clearing station' klemm shows how horrific the war even behind the trenches, and even though men are dying in battle in mass numbers they are still sending men to fight. Though they almost definitely will die. Dulce et decorum est shows that they are not bothered how the men die or even if they can survive they are disposable in the leaders eyes.
