Poetry coursework For my coursework I have looked at a variety of war poems. Each of the poets are trying to stir an emotion in the reader, that will help get the poets heard. In an extract from Henry V (Before Agincourt) Shakespeare expresses how everyone should value honour above everything else. The King says he is: "...not covetous for gold" "But if it be a sin to covet honour I am the most offending soul alive" This encourages the men to want honour because Henry is the King and they want to be like him: they are moved by his words and want to follow his example. However in Dulce et Decorum Est. (by Wilfred Owen). The poet shows the ugly side of war: a man dying in agony. It shows that after death the man was flung on a cart and how he is not remembered and does not receive any glory...
