A2 English Literature Unit 6 - World War One Literature Explore the contribution to First World War Literature made by Margaret Postgate Cole, Eva Dobell, Ruth Comfort Mitchell and Marjorie Wilson. Examine the use of themes within their poetry, and in particular, the way in which they use loss and sacrifice to shape their poems. When studying the literature of the First World War, the works of female writers, poets and artists are frequently overlooked and underrated in a field dominated by males. Fortunately, Catherine Reilly's celebrated collection of women's First World War poetry 'Scars Upon my Heart' is recognised as a worthy contribution to the vast canon of war literature.
