Discussing the motion: "This house believes we should discontinue the practice of Remembrance Day silence." Is the Remembrance Day silence simply a minute of our whole year, that makes us feel better about ourselves for remembering the Great War where so many lost their lives? Or is it a pointless act of remembering something we shouldn't? Millions of men died in that war that was said to end all wars. The fact that our countries were involved in that mass murder; is that something that we're proud of, or want to remember? Are we proud that we were part of that mass slaughter? Do we want to glorify war by remembering it, and saying that all the men that went there and killed thousands of innocent men did the right thing?
