DISCUSS OWEN AND SASSOON'S PRESENTATION OF WAR In this coursework I am going to discuss Owen and Sassoon's presentation of war. To do this I am going to study various poems that they have written about war, these are: Dulce et Decorum est., Disabled, The General, Does it Matter? and Exposure. The first poem I will study is 'Dulce et Decorum' est, which was written by Owen. He starts by describing, in general, the harsh conditions and effects that this has on the soldiers. We immediately get an impression of the pain suffered by the soldiers when he describes them as 'bent double' and 'knock-kneed'. Owen then switches from talking in general to focus on one man and uses two quick lines to portray the increase in speed and action of the battle; this is in extreme contrast to the long, painful deaths of the previous verse.
