I think that source A is the best source for showing the general effects of artillery bombardment, because the German trenches were shelled for weeks and yet there was very little damage done to them, the deeply dug trenches were not at all damaged and the higher trenches weren't really damaged either. However, source B is a good source for showing the effects of artillery bombardment when it did work, but source A shows what usually happened, which was very little. Source A is an algamation of other sources, it is an English schools text book, but I do not think it has any partisan to England, the source simply states the fact, if you read it you can see there is nothing partisan in the text.
