The idea and study of the passing if time and shortness of life is a common theme in poetry. Compare the different thoughts and emotions expressed by various poets on this subject. Poetry is a way people can get their deepest feelings across, many of the poems that were studied all seem to be pessimistic about life, this is evident in certain phrases that the writers boldly pronounce. Throughout time literature has had a strong influence on the public. It has witnessed great writers such as Shakespeare, Keats, Herrick and many more. Many of the poems this essay looked at have been post 1400, the topic that was generalized was death, decay and life. From reading such poems it has given me an insight of different approaches that writers took to get there message through.
