What similarities and differences have you noticed in "The Fat Black Woman goes shopping and "A Negro Woman?" We have just read the poems "A Negro woman" and the "fat black woman goes shopping." Grace Nicholas who is a black woman so can probably relate to the woman she's writing about writes fat Black Woman goes shopping. Grace was born in 1950 and is still alive today. William Carlos Williams wrote a Negro Woman. Williams, was born in 1883 in New Jersey, America. He was a well-known poet and wrote a few plays. Sadly Williams died in 1963. In the poem "A Negro Woman," the writer has painted a picture of a woman walking down the street. He uses lots of verbs to describe her actions. He says she is carrying a big bunch of marigolds, which are bright yellow flowers, which stand out. Although he says they're not expensive...
