Compare and contrast Tennyson and Elliot's use of dramatic monologue in "Ulysses" and "Prufrock" Both poets use men as their character in using a dramatic monologue, Tennyson uses a king as his pseudonym which shows Tennyson is into grandeur. Elliot's use of man is much more interesting, she uses a man to talk about being unable to talk to women and their ignorance of him. In the Prufrock it says, "in the room where women go, and talk of Michelangelo," and "Where should I begin, "which makes reference to women's ignorance of him and his inability to talk to women. This is a poem written by a woman which gives it an interesting perspective on the struggles of a man. These poems are heavily focused on men, with no direct focus on women in both of them.
