This assignment is about the opening section of the Baz Luhrmann's film Romeo and Juliet and the effectiveness of the images created. The film Romeo and Juliet had to be very imaginative to capture the audiences attention and draw them into the film. By the explosive and powerful start, we, the audience, immediately realise the film is a modern interpretation, as actors in the play obviously live in modern times but instead of talking in modern dialect, they talk in the same way people spoke in Shakespeare's era. The opening section of the film Romeo and Juliet commences with a wide angle shot of a T.V. in the centre of the screen. The background of the screen is just plain black and dull. On the T.V. there is a woman reading out the play's prologue, as if she is reading out a 20th century news report. The camera begins to...
