Romeo and Juliet In this piece of coursework I will be studying the form and language of the prologue and how the prologue introduces the play's themes. What is a prologue, you might ask? Well, I will tell you it is the introduction to a piece of literature, a play in this case and it basically tells you the run down of what is going on so that you can understand it better and be enticed. It's basically an update. In this case the prologue shows that there is friction between the two families, Capulet and Montague "From ancient grudge break to new mutiny" (line 3) "From forth the fatal loins of these two foes" (line 5) As you can see, Shakespeare uses harsh sounding alliteration to show that there is real hatred between these two families.
