As a love story, do you think 'Romeo and Juliet' can appeal to a modern audience? 'Romeo and Juliet' does appeal to a modern day audience due to themes and relationships that we are exposed to during the play. Romeo is a teenage boy that has fallen in love with a girl who is a member of the Capulet's. This is an issue as Romeo is a member of the Montague's. The whole play can be explained by just one line in the play, spoken by Romeo. He says: 'Here's much to do with hate, but more with love' Romeo is portrayed to like the idea of being in love. The overuse of oxymorons in his speech makes the dramatic effect become artificial. This shows that Romeo has a very sweet loving side to him. This aspect will appeal to a modern audience because it is describing what to some people is the man...
