Analysis of Baz Lurhmann's Romeo and Juliet Prologue Romeo and Juliet is just one of William Shakespeare's classics that have been retold in many ways over the years. Baz Lurhmann certainly puts a different perspective on this timeless story. He uses distinct techniques to portray the story in a different light. The Capulets and the Montagues are two rival families in the city of Verona. Romeo Montague falls in love with Juliet Capulet after a chance meeting, when he sneaks into a Capulet party. They decide to marry the next day, and ask Friar Lawrence to carry out a secret wedding in the dead of the night. Friar Lawrence hopes that this will be the end to the fighting and hostility between the two noble families. Romeo and Juliet resolve to keep their marriage a secret, and plan to run away together.
