Why do you think Macbeth changed from being a loyal soldier to a murdering tyrant? Choose two or three speeches from the play and explore why you think this happened. The play, Macbeth was written by William Shakespeare in 1608 and has been acted on stage ever since. Macbeth is all about a loyal soldier called Macbeth who worked for the king. He becomes Thane of Cawdor and meets 3 witches who tell him he will be king. With this information he tells his wife who urges him to murder the king in order for him to become king. Not wanting to be a coward he does so and is then crowned king of Scotland. Macbeth then meets the 3 witches again and they tell him about the 3 apparitions, he becomes suspicious of people and murders them. He murdered Banquo, Macduff's wife and children.
