What have you found interesting about Shakespeare's presentation of the relationship between Macbeth and his lady in his play 'The Tragedy of Macbeth'? At the beginning of the play Lady Macbeth shows us that she is supportive of Macbeth in his desire to become king. Shakespeare presents Lady Macbeth as women with a strong character who is ambitious for herself and who knows her husband's strengths and weaknesses. She is a woman who has ambitions for her husband whom she loves. She feels that, without her, he will never achieve his ambitions. Shakespeare's close attention to the Thane and his lady is interesting in that he presents the audience with a binary opposition that challenges traditional ideas about gender. Lady Macbeth is direct and confident whereas Macbeth is not confident. Shakespeare inverses the roles because at that time, woman were seen as the lower class and men the higher class...
