Tuesday 30th March Study Scenes 1-4 of Act One and consider how Shakespeare creates setting and atmosphere and introduces the key characters and themes of the play The play Macbeth is set in the medieval period in Scotland. It was most likely written around the time of 1606 during the reign of James I. Shakespeare relates all his plays to James' reign as you can notice in Macbeth, as the play reflects Shakespeare's close relationship with the king. The feeling you get throughout the play is an eerie sense of confusion and greed from Macbeth and an evil, sinister view from the three witches. The mood exuded by the witches is that they enjoy being evil because they tell Macbeth his prophecy. He feels it's true and decides to fulfil it. However looking at it from the witches view it is just another way of being evil and it happens to be towards...
