Examine the role of the three witches in Macbeth, how do they influence Macbeth and can it be argued Macbeth is a fourth witch? In the play it can be seen that there are various ways in which the three witches can be seen to influence Macbeth in different ways. In this essay I plan to explore each and everyway this can be deduced. When Macbeth has his first meeting with the witches it is clear that they intend to inform Macbeth of his fortune. This is show by the way they greet him and this is show in the text where it says, " All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Glamis! All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth! That shalt be king hereafter." In this extract of text it can be deduced that the witches have blatantly revealed important information to Macbeth, which is...
