The reason for this is that it gives someone a view as to what women in the olden days had to consider and had no choice but to obey and do as their told. Women were less superior than men. Also, Hamlet reveals the foible, obedient, assailable, and emotional instability features in women. Women who show such characteristics in this play are Ophelia and Gertrude. In Ophelia's case, a lot of the features of women as previously mentioned are revealed by her. Ophelia is a young woman who has been lectured to trust and listen to men such as her father who has Ophelia's life in his hands. Ophelia disregards her feelings and trusts Hamlet's love for her.
