Hamlet Consider the significance of Act 1 Scene 2 to the play as a whole. Shakespeare wrote many plays in his life. Hamlet is one of the most famous of all. When studying this play the significance of Act 1 Scene 2 should be considered on how important it is to the whole play. This part of the play has many themes and issues shown in it, such as betrayal and loyalty and appearance and reality. Act 1 Scene 2 is also where the main characters are first introduced. The play begins with act 1; this starts with a ghost being seen outside the castle. The ghost is believed to be that of the last king Hamlet who was the main character Hamlet's father.
