Examine Shakespeare's presentation of Caesar Even from the introduction Caesar is described as cold, ungenerous, incapable of love, and cynical. Included in the introduction of the book there is a sonnet (sonnet 94) where there is a line " unmoved, cold and to temptation slow," it's thought that Shakespeare meant this about Caesar. Shakespeare wanted Caesar to have the characteristics of an ideal king. Caesar is the model of a successful ruler, he shows his military and political insights throughout the play. After the second battle between Antony and Caesar, when Caesar is losing , he doesn't not contemplate suicide or become depressed he changes his tactics for the next days fighting's. Caesar is not impulsive but has a planned campaign, whereas Antony makes decisions and acts on the spur of the moment but usually realises when its too late.
