Critiques of Marxism There are many criticisms of Marxism and their theories:> Marxism puts far too much emphasis on conflict - capitalism has managed to put the standard of living up for a large percentage of the people and is generally beneficial to the majority; something they persist to ignore.> Marxism is accused of being "economically determinist". That is, the idea that Marxists over-exaggerate the importance of economic relationships; relationships that are seen to determine the shape taken by all other relationships (family, education, friendship, religious etc.)> Like with many other perspectives. Marxism (Macro research) ignores freedom of choice enjoyed by individuals i.e. people choose what to do and think and are not brainwashed.> By concentrating upon economic relationships and conflicts Marxists tend to either overlook other forms of (non-economic) conflict or attempt to explain these conflicts as ultimately having economic roots.
